What's better than your standard ground beef mixed with spaghetti sauce but doesn't take all day like a true Bolognese? It's my Easy Bolognese that takes half the time but packs huge flavor! Ground beef is sauteed and seasoned along with aromatics to elevate this weeknight staple. Try this recipe for your next pasta craving!
Not only is Easy Bolognese fun to say, it’s even more fun to eat! This dish takes a weeknight staple of pasta with meat sauce up a few notches by adding just a few extra touches and techniques to really elevate this recipe. This recipe starts by sauteeing onions, garlic, and spices to add a good solid flavor base. The next step of caramelizing tomato paste is a huge flavor booster. Caramelizing your tomato paste adds such a huge depth of flavor that takes your pasta sauce from ordinary to extraordinary. Once your first few steps are completed, it’s time to add your crushed tomatoes and simmer. After your simmer, you simply add your parmesan cheese, cream, and sugar, taste for salt and serve! You can serve this over any pasta you like. I personally love a long twirly noodle topped with fresh basil and extra parmesan, but if you ask my kids they love a good shell shape that holds all the delicious sauce inside. This is a great meal to make ahead of time and reheat for a quick and easy dinner. This is also a great freezer friendly meal you can have on hand for those extra busy days or when you just don’t feel like cooking. Between this meal being easy, budget friendly, and high protein, it really is a great option for a delicious and easy dinner that’ll make all your pasta dreams come true. Speaking of dreams, did you know about the time my dream came true? One night, I was having the best dream ever where I won the local fishing derby by catching the largest catfish. Normally, I don’t really look into dreams much less remember them, however as I was dropping my kids off for summer camp, my eye caught a sign to register for the annual fishing derby. Naturally, I had to sign up as this was too big of a coincidence. When the day of the fishing derby arrived, I hopped onto my little boat and headed out onto the lake. It was a hot and steamy day, but that dream felt so real that I felt compelled to ride out the weather and see what would happen. Just when I was about to pack it in for lunch, I felt a tug on my pole that nearly took me into the water. Very carefully and urgently, I reached for my pole and began to reel my catch in. After a good and hard won fight, a catfish emerged that was bigger than my husband!! My poor little boat could barely hold the extra weight, but nonetheless we made it back to get my catch weighed in. At the end of the day, I was deemed the winner and earned a trophy and a gift certificate to a local Italian restaurant where I ordered the most delicious Bolognese dinner.

Preheat your skillet to medium high heat and add your oil. Once your oil is heated, add your onion and saute until translucent, about 3 to 5 minutes. Add your garlic along with your seasonings and saute until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

Add your ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks. Saute your beef until there is barely any pink showing.

Add your tomato paste to the beef. Combine well and allow your tomato paste to carmelize, about 3-5 minutes. Stir in your Worchestershire sauce and combine well.

Add your crushed tomatoes, stir to combine and cover. Simmer for 20-25 minutes.

After your sauce has simmered, add your remaining ingredients (cream, parmesan, and sugar). Stir well to combine and add any additional salt if necessary. Serve immediately over your favorite pasta.
